Headset Service Programs
Everyone wants to sell new headsets. Not everyone wants to deal with the customer when there is a Problem.
Able Zebra Communications views customer problems as our opportunity to win over new customers.
One of the first questions we ask prospective customers is; "WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOUR HEADSET BREAKS?" Often the response is; "WE BUY A NEW ONE."
With this economy many organizations are looking for ways to trim fat. For large headset users one of the best places to do this is to review your headset repair policy.
All corded headsets from the four major manufacturers have a two year warranty. Wireless headsets have a one year warranty. The headsets are date coded so the customer can know how long their warranty is good for. MOST CUSTOMERS DO NOT KNOW THIS! Our job is to teach the customer how to get the most out of their headset investment.
Able Zebra will track your headsets via an excell spreadsheet. All headsets will be listed by INVENTORY NUMBER, MODEL, DATE CODE AND REPAIR HISTORY.
This information will be readily available to the customer whenever needed. Should the customer have a problem with a Plantronics headset for instance, all they need do is call or email us with the inventory control number. We look up the headset on the spreadsheet and immediately know if it is in or out of warranty.
Should it be out of warranty we charge $49 for a replacement. The replacement is advance replaced by us within 48 hours.
Payment for this service can be by purchase order or credit card as we are an e-commerce site.
Should the Plantronics be in warranty the same process applies except there is no charge.
When the customer receives their replacement headset all they need do is ship the defective unit back to us. We will intercede on your behalf with Plantronics.
All replacement Plantronics are warranteed for one year. They are remanufactured and not repaired. This means the headset the customer gets back is LIKE NEW. Remanufactured headsets only reuse the chip set in the headset capsule. Everything else on the remanufactured headset is brand new.
The other 3 manufacturers are not set up in this manner. Any headset purchased from Able Zebra Communicstions, regardless of the manufacturer, will be replaced by us immediately with a new inventory unit. This program is for in-warranty headsets only. For out of warranty units from GN, Sennheiser and VXI the customer can send us the broken unit and we will get it repaired by the manufacturer for a $49 charge. These repair units will be warranted for 1 year.
We also offer a headset 'refresh' program. Should you have a box of suspect headsets in a closet or drawers, send them to us. We will go through each one and test it. Should there be nothing wrong with the unit we will clean it up and replace the consumable spares (cushions, voice tubes, wind screen, etc...) and charge the customer $15 per unit. We will warranty these headsets for 3 months. Should there be a problem with the headset we will create a log summarizing the issue with the units and let the customer decide whether they want to have us repair it or send it back to the customer.
The reason for going through boxes of discarded headsets is simple; Most headsets that are thought defective, really aren't. As an example, about 50% of the headsets sent to Plantronics are 'no trouble found.'
One can see rather quickly that a simple headset management program can pay dividends long term. Headsets are thought of as commodities rather than something that costs upwards of $150. If you are replacing suspect headsets every month this can ad up. Ten headsets per month equals $1,150 or $13,800 per year. If you do not have to spend this money WHY DO IT?
